Supply House Times Announces Industry Alliance With ASA

May 17, 2001
Agreement will bring ASA News Supply House Times, which becomes the official publication of the American Supply Association.

Supply House Times has announced it will become the official publication of the American Supply Association in a move that combines what was ASA News, the magazine published by the American Supply Association, into the pages of Supply House Times each month. ASA Newshenceforth will cease publication and appear as a separate section within Supply House Times and be clearly marked as such graphically.

The two organizations think this is an important partnership in promoting the interests of industry wholesalers, with benefits to everyone in the industry.

  • ASA sees it as an opportunity to focus its energies on what it identifies as the association's "core competencies" of education, technology and government affairs. ASA News also will appear monthly within the pages of Supply House Times, instead of its former every-other-month publication schedule.

  • Supply House Times benefits by gaining inside access to all ASA information, programs and goodwill. Also, all ASA members will be added to Supply House Times' circulation in a timely matter.

  • ASA members benefit from affiliation with the industry's most prestigious magazine, from the elimination of redundancies, and from the ASA staff's ability to turn more resources toward its core competencies.

Both publications will retain their editorial independence. By mutual agreement, ASA will have no say over the content of Supply House Times, except for those pages specifically designated as ASA News. Nor will the Supply House Times staff make any attempt to control or edit the content of ASA's designated pages.

"We believe very strongly that this is a very positive move for ASA," said ASA President Don Maloney. "Business News Publishing Co. has long enjoyed the respect of this industry as a result of its high quality magazines and the integrity of their professional staff. The publishers have a dedication to this industry and goals that parallel those of ASA: to help in creating a vibrant and profitable industry for all of us. ASA puts its full support behind Supply House Times and will proudly promote readership of the magazine among its members, as well as support by advertisers."

The partnership with Supply House Times begins immediately. The May/June edition will be the final edition of ASA News. Supply House Times will begin its coverage of ASA affairs with the July 2001 issue.
