Payless Cashways Goes Out Of Business

Payless Cashways closed its doors Aug. 28. Once the industry's fifth-largest retailer, a $2.6 billion company with 200 stores nationwide, the home center chain was down to 73 stores and operating in Chapter 11 when it told the bankruptcy court it had no funds to continue operations and would seek liquidation.
