PMI Encourages Code Uniformity
June 1, 2000
The Plumbing Manufacturers Institute has come out with a revised policy that encourages states and localities to adopt either the International Plumbing Code or the Uniform Plumbing Code. Previously, the trade group supported the International Code Council’s efforts to consolidate codes.
Although individual member companies may have supported the IPC over the UPC, PMI as a group never officially favored one code over another.
PMI’s new policy goes on to suggest states and localities make only “limited” amendments to either code and to keep current with ongoing up-dates in an effort to have more uniformity of codes throughout the country.
