At its last drafting meeting on Nov. 15, the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) rescinded previous decisions to reconsolidate Division 15 specifications under proposed Div. 21 Mechanical. Instead, CSI is moving to break up the scope of the Mechanical Division into separate Plumbing (Div. 20) and HVAC (Div. 21) divisions.

While MCA of Canada and MCAA representatives on the CSI MasterFormat expansion task force voted against the last-minute change, they were unable to validate earlier decisions. The task force credited the decision with later input weighing more heavily than more formal and numerous earlier comments received.

The revised MasterFormat is now set to be finished in July 2004.
