Texas State Technical College’s Women in Trades program hosted a small ceremony to recognize six women who completed the plumbing and drain cleaning course. Each of them earned 80 hours of credit toward her journeyman’s license as a master plumber.
“These women all worked very hard and learned a lot,” said Dina Dwyer-Owens, president and CEO of The Dwyer Group, parent company of Mr. Rooter, who developed the idea for the WIT program. “Not only would these graduates be an asset for companies that are hurting for well-trained technicians, but these women would be entering a very lucrative field that could transform their lives.”
