Frank Torres, who headed up Slant/Fin's research and development, retired late in 2003 after 44 years with the company. He worked on developing the company's original boiler product, and oversaw production of nine separate boiler models with hundreds of sizes and configurations. Born and raised in Cuba, Torres was a U.S. Army paratrooper before joining Slant/Fin.
