Monographs contain every public comment submitted for the 2027 editions of the UPC and UMC as part of the code development process employed by IAPMO.

IAPMO made the 2025 Uniform Plumbing Code and Uniform Mechanical Code technical committee meeting monographs available for download.

All individuals anticipating an active role in the ANSI-accredited consensus development of the Uniform Codes at the technical committee meetings in Los Angeles, May 6-9, can download the UPC and UMC documents online.

The monographs contain every public comment submitted for the 2027 editions of the UPC and UMC as part of the code development process employed by IAPMO.

Topic areas for public comments to the UPC included reference standards for plumbing fixtures; temperature limitations of appliances and fixtures; drinking water treatment systems; water supply fixture branch pipe sizing; hangers and supports; material for building storm sewer pipe; fuel gas provisions; medical gas provisions; storm drains; flexible water connectors; material requirements for water supply and distribution systems; tankless water heater connections; pitless wells; water softeners and water treatment systems; backflow prevention devices; rehabilitation provisions for building sewer and sewer lateral piping; roof drainage provisions; recirculating pumps in healthcare facilities; septic tank construction; and Legionella and scalding risks.

Topic areas for public comments to the UMC included remote inspections for permitting; accessibility of appliances for service, repair, and replacement; protective barriers for appliances and energy storage systems installed in residential garages; suspended piping and tubing materials; exhaust ventilation for parking garages; balanced mechanical ventilation systems for dwelling units; location of outdoor air intakes; termination of exhaust ducts; makeup air provisions for clothes dryers; installation of laboratory exhaust systems and chemical fume hoods; explosion venting for product-conveying ducts; duct leakage test methods and inspections; materials used for duct systems; product listing and installation requirements for specific appliances based on fuel source; installation of air-source heat pump water heaters; requirements for refrigeration machinery rooms; sizing of dual purpose and instantaneous water heaters; automatic makeup fluid for hydronic systems; geothermal energy systems and district energy systems; installation requirements for hydrogen fuel gas piping; and installation requirements for mechanical systems in tiny houses.
