UA, GreenPlumbers Join Forces
GreenPlumbers and the United Association of
Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the
United States and Canada announced their partnership, which will combine the
UA’s training programs with GreenPlumbers’
marketing and accreditation network.
Under their collaboration, the UA commits to provide green training for its more than 300,000 members in North America. The agreement ensures all UA members who complete the plumbing portion of the UA’s Green Mechanical Systems Awareness class or the HVAC/Plumbing Combination will be recognized in the global GreenPlumbers Accreditation Program.
According to Steve Lehtonen, managing director of GreenPlumbers, a joint content committee is finalizing the curriculum assimilation, and the groups should be issuing accreditations by early August.
“GreenPlumbers has emerged as an innovative force in the green industry,” stated UA Director of Plumbing Services Gary Hamilton in the announcement. “The combination of our training and GreenPlumbers’ vision is a natural fit for the new green marketplace.”
The UA recently received U.S. Green Building Council education provider status, and GreenPlumbers is currently in the application process. Both use the services of The National Inspection, Testing and Certification Corporation (NITC), an internationally recognized third-party personnel certification agency that is ISO 9001:2000 certified and is an ANSI accredited certifier.
