Apprenticeship contest winners are announced at Bradford White breakfast.

PHCC apprenticeship contest winners were honored at a Bradford White breakfast that met Oct. 6 during the PHCC's annual convention in Chicago. The contest's chairman, Frank Maddalon, announced winners of the PHCC National Apprenticeship Contest and Vocational Industry Clubs of American (VICA) Skills USA Competition.

Mike Esteves of California won first place in the PHCC National Apprenticeship Contest, and Dan Yu of Virginia and Dan McClintick of Indiana earned second and third place respectively.

VICA Skills USA Competition winners fell into two categories. Three winners brought home Secondary School Class medals: gold - Ryen Esser of Lorain County Joint Vocational School in Oberlin, Ohio; silver - Steve Dockery of White Co. High School in Cleveland, Ga.; bronze - Philip Mauck of Center of Applied Technology in North Severn, Md. In the Post-secondary Class Medal category, winners included gold winner Steve Termine of Delcastle Tech in Wilmington, Del.; silver winner Jason Strayham of Gautier-Gulf Coast CC in Gautier, Miss.; and bronze winner Albert Rice of Northwest Tech Institute in Springdale, Ark.
