The National Building Museum, located in Washington, D.C., celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2005. Various celebratory activities were scheduled throughout the year, including a film series dedicated to the relationship between architecture and cinema; an anniversary bash Oct. 29; and an exhibition showcasing the museum's collection, which opened Dec. 3.

The museum ( was chartered by Congress in 1980, and is the only institution in the world dedicated to all aspects of the human-made environment - architecture, design, engineering, construction and urban planning.
