In remembrance of Patrick J. Higgins, past vice president of ASME, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers has created an award to recognize individuals who have contributed to the enhancement of standardization through contributions to the development and promotion of ASME codes and standards or conformity assessment programs. Each annual recipient of the ASME Patrick Higgins Award will receive a medal, an embossed certificate and a $1,000 honorarium.

ASME is seeking donations to create a trust fund of $25,000 for the program. Checks should be made out to “ASME — Pat Higgins Medal” and sent to Steve Weinman, ASME, 3 Park Ave., New York, NY 10016-5990.
