AGE: 26
COMPANY: Donnelly’s Home Comfort Specialists, Lansdale, Pennsylvania
TITLE: Plumbing technician (currently transitioning to Plumbing field supervisor)

How long have you been in the PHCP-PVF industry?
NR:
I’ve been in the industry for nine years.

What drew you into the industry?
NR:
My father drew me into this industry — he is also plumber. When I was younger, he would always have me involved by doing jobs with him and trying to teach me the trade whether I wanted to follow it as a career or not. Then, I started working at the company where he was the service manager while I was going to college to give them an extra hand. While working at this company with him, I started to realize that going to college wasn’t for me. It was probably the best decision I could have made, and I want to thank my father for that.

What is the most rewarding aspect of working in the industry?
NR:
The most rewarding aspect in this industry for me is helping my clients live better in their homes. It gives me comfort that I can produce quality work for people that eases there day to day living and not worry about potential issues that could go wrong in their homes.

What is one thing you wish more people knew/understood about the PHCP-PVF industry?
NR:
One thing that I wish more people knew/understood about this industry is that plumbing is an essential skill that is not going away anytime soon. I would encourage the younger generation to look more into the PHCP-PVF industry when thinking about what the next step may be after high school. This trade can be very rewarding in many ways, and it’s a skill that you can take pride in that many people do not know how to do.

What has been the proudest moment in your career so far?
NR:
The proudest moment in my career would have to be making over six figures a year at only 22 years old.

What is one thing most people don’t know about you?
NR:
One thing most people don’t know about me is that I really enjoy cooking. Whether it is on the grill, the smoker or just day-to-day cooking on the stove.

Why he was chosen as a Next Gen All Star Top 20 Under 40 winner:
“Nick was our top producing plumber last year at over $500,000 in total revenue for the company. This isn’t why I submit his nomination though. When it comes to the customer, Nick puts them first and carries himself with a humble and helpful demeanor. He has the ability to speak with customers in layman’s terms to describe their repair wants/needs while prioritizing their satisfaction over profit. Internally, Nick has a team-first mentality and a versatile skill set. He consistently helps dispatch in needed situations without pushback. I confidently say Nick is one of the best plumbers out there and he proves that true, day in and out,” says Joe Howenstein of Donnelly’s Home Comfort Specialists.
