Rebuilding Together's National Rebuild Day was April 29; volunteers gathered at more than 8,900 homes in 1,838 cities and towns across the country to repair and rehab the houses of elderly and disabled low-income homeowners. PHCC members from Sacramento Valley (Calif.) and the Tacoma/Seattle area participated in several projects.

About 65 Sacramento Valley members and other volunteers helped repair 13 houses for needy families in the Sacramento area; they corrected a gas leak, installed a new water heater, repaired or replaced toilets, replaced faucets, and installed a new garbage disposal.

Participating companies were J.R. Pierce, PHCC-GSA Plumbing Apprenticeship Program, McDonald Plumbing & Heating, Risse Mechanical, Cal Delta Plumbing, Bianchi Plumbing, Armstrong Plumbing, Monarch Plumbing, Noveon, PHCC Apprenticeship School, PHCC-Medical Insurance Trust and PHCC-Sacramento Valley.

Members in Tacoma and Seattle were involved in eight projects: they renovated six complete bathrooms, five kitchens, replaced several hundred feet of piping, fixed several leaks, rebuilt two tub faucets and completely replaced all the plumbing in one 85-year-old house.

Participating companies were At Your Service Plumbing, Bob Larson Plumbing, Double K Plumbing, Mitchel Plumbing, Norpac Prima Plumbing, Puget Sound Mechanical, Rick the Plumber, Stack Plumbing, Plumbmaster, Rosen Supply, Keller Supply and Enterprise Fleet Service.
