Reed’s DM3MECH allows drilling through copper, steel, or plastic pipe (up to 4-inch valves) wall via fittings inserted into the service saddle or thread-o-let. It is used mainly on schedule 10, 20, and 40 and can be used on schedule 80, but it is not common. Mechanical contractors will find the product most useful for industrial jobs. Most of the time, it is used on steel pipe for chilled lines; plumbing and fire sprinkler are other markets. Plumbing contractors use the DM3Mech for working on ground steam and water for hot taps.
