Fond du Lac, Wis.-based J.F. Ahern recently expanded its fire protection business into western Michigan, focusing on the Grand Rapids area. The office will provide fire sprinkler inspections, service and system installations.

In other news, the company appointed Penny Kottke as assistant controller. She most recently served as media controller for Conley Publishing Group.
