The
International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (
IAPMO)
welcomed
Megan Lehtonen as the association’s new director of
program development. Lehtonen recently served as president of
GreenPlumbers
USA.
Lehtonen will continue to work on Green
Plumbers India,
an innovative national training and accreditation program designed to assist
Indian plumbing contractors/engineers in understanding their role in
environmental conservation and public health, which she helped established. She
will also work closely with IAPMO Senior Director of Business and Product
Development
Allen Inlow in the creation and fostering of
Green
Plumbers China.
These
two international Green
Plumbers
programs will train thousands of plumbing engineers/contractors to
promote the benefits of water conservation and the reduction of greenhouse gas
emissions, in hopes of seeking a cultural change in consumer and plumbing
behavior through the use of energy efficiency and water saving technologies.
IAPMO
and GreenPlumbers USA are
also developing a Green Plumbing and Mechanical Inspector Certification Program
derived from the Uniform Codes and the Green
Plumbers
curriculum. Green
Plumbers has
provided IAPMO with an exclusive Conservation/Foundation Partnership with
regard to Green
Plumbers training
and accreditation modules and programs.
