The World Health Organization will send a representative to give an overview of the new “Guidelines on Health Aspects of Plumbing.” These guidelines were originally produced in 1982 and revised in 1998. They can be used by developing countries as they try to establish criteria for the installation and maintenance of plumbing systems.
Also, a one-day technical seminar - including topics on drainage and public health, water conservation and environmental protection, and global training in the water industry - will be held on March 16. It is sponsored by the World Plumbing Council, the Plumbing Facilities Committee of China and Messe Frankfurt. In related news, the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials recently signed on as a sponsor of ISH China.
