Stone Forest’s Moso Bamboo
Vessel received the 2008 Good Design Award at a ceremony that was organized and
hosted by The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design. Drawing from
hundreds of submissions encompassing every type of product from a ballpoint pen
to a baby carrier and with leading brands like Motorola, Apple and Herman
Miller participating, Stone Forest’s durable and water resistant bamboo
bathroom sink was considered the best, most advanced, and cutting-edge product
previewed in its category.
More than
500 products were reviewed by judges in both New York and Los Angeles. The
panel of judges was comprised of an intercontinental group of design experts
and professionals. The progressive sink is created by removing the interior
soft part of the bamboo and leaving the hard exterior to be laminated. This
eco-friendly solid bamboo vessel sink is made from 100 percent renewable Moso
bamboo without the use of harsh chemical sealants.
Founded in
Chicago in 1950 by architects Eero Saarinen, Charles
and Ray Eames, and Edgar Kaufman Jr., the
Good Design Awards bestow international recognition upon the world’s most
prominent designers and manufacturers for advancing new, visionary and
innovative product concepts, invention and originality, and for stretching the
envelope beyond what is considered basic product and consumer design.
