Helmets To Hardhats Candidate Honored At Building Trades Convention

October 6, 2009
Joshua Coale was a top-honors recipient at the UA Apprenticeship Competition and will be recognized by the Kentucky State Building and Construction Trades Council.

Joshua Coale, top-honors recipient at the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada's International Apprenticeship Competition, showed he was “the best of the best” and will soon be honored during the three-day Kentucky State Building and Construction Trades Council’s Biennial Convention.

In Louisville, Oct. 7, labor leaders will meet and share ideas, and help determine the future of organized labor in the state for the next two years. They will also recognize Coale, who represented Sprinkler Fitters Local 669 in Kentucky and earned top honors in both the sprinklerfitter skills competition and the sprinklerfitter's copper contest.

Coale is also a military veteran who served his country for five years in the U.S. Marine Corps. He came to the trades via the Helmets to Hardhats program, a free, nonprofit program that helps transitioning military servicemembers connect to quality career opportunities in the construction industry.
