December 10, 2008
The company has completed the mechanical and plumbing work for a biomass ethanol test
facility at the University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences in Gainesville.
S.I. Goldman Company Inc.,
Comfort Systems USA, announced its completion of mechanical and plumbing work
for a biomass ethanol test facility at the University of Florida’s Institute of
Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS) in Gainesville, Fla.
The Frazier Rogers Biomass Fuel Pilot Plant will serve as a research facility for chemical and biological processes that turn cellulosic biomass (inedible residues of plants) into ethanol for automotive fuel. S.I. Goldman was contracted by the University in June to act as the prime contractor for installation of specialty piping systems. The company ran high-pressure and low-pressure steam and steam condensate as well as de-ionized, processed, domestic water, venting and drain piping.
Moses and Associates Inc., with whom S.I. Goldman has partnered on other University projects over the last seven years, was the Engineer of Record. A ribbon-cutting ceremony with representatives from Florida Governor Charlie Crist’s office was held in October.
S.I. Goldman parent company Comfort Systems USA was No.13 on PM’s 2008 Pipe Trades Giants list.
