According to Census 2000 data, the number of U.S. households without complete plumbing fell from 721,693 homes (0.78 percent) in 1990 to 670,986 homes (0.64 percent). Alaska led the nation with 14,003 homes without plumbing, while regionally the South had the highest rate with five states having the worst plumbing facilities.
