Contractor Builds Homes For Disabled Iraqi Vets
August 1, 2004
John Gonsalves, a Boston-area general contractor, started a nonprofit organization, Homes For Our Troops, to build homes to accommodate disabled troops returning from Iraq. His organization teamed up with the VA to serve a specific class of vets whose injuries are catastrophic enough to qualify for the VA housing assistance grant. He expects this to be about 400 homes a year. He is looking for the building products industry to donate products and funds, and the contractor labor force to donate time and services.
