Turner Construction Co., based in New York City, celebrated its 100th anniversary on May 6. It began with a concrete reinforcing technique, which was used in constructing the concrete station stairways of New York's first subway line. Today, the company, a subsidiary of Dallas-based The Turner Corp., has 42 offices nationwide, more than 4,700 employees and works on about 1,500 projects a year. In 2001, the company had a record construction volume of $6.3 million.
