Climate Energy LLC, a subsidiary of ECR International, and the Braintree (Mass.) Electric Light Department recently saw the installation of the a Micro-CHP system.
Climate's Micro-CHP system is the result of a collaboration with American Honda Motor Co. The system produces electric power as a by-product of the normal supply of heat to a home; it can generate about 50 percent of the electricity needs of an average home. It uses natural gas and is configured to replace existing space-heating furnaces and boilers. The system is also expected to yield a 30 percent reduction in carbon dioxide emissions, compared to conventional heating appliances.
