On the pages of this and other plumbing industry trade magazines we now see advertisements touting the “generous” offer by one of the world’s largest retailers to “come and work for us.” Many of you reacted with outrage to this intrusion on our turf by one of our chief competitors. I didn’t like it either, but it is only one small part of a disturbing pattern.
Many PHC service contractors are receiving mail solicitations from a home warranty company trying to put together a contractor referral network. Others are being offered “partnerships” with various utility companies for subcontracted work whose prices are controlled by the utilities.
