Grundfos
Pumps recently added a 4,000-sq.-ft., state-of-the-art
testing facility alongside its production plant located in Wahlstedt, Germany. The test room contains a 111,000-gallon
test pit and the ability to accommodate pumps with a capacity of 8,800 gallons-per-minute,
with electric motors or diesel engines up to nearly 540 horsepower. The “most
advanced fire pump test facility in the world” will be
handling pumps sent from the U.S. (from the Grundfos-acquired
Peerless
Pump facility in Indianapolis), which will be sold throughout Europe, the
Middle East, Asia and Africa.
In addition to
testing, the facility will also provide design and training at the company’s
on-site training center, which incorporates a state-of-the-art guest house. A
noise-proof room is also available for customer witness tests.
