The International
Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials and the American Backflow
Prevention Association have signed a Memorandum of Understanding reflecting
both organizations’ common goal of “protecting the public’s drinking water from
pollution and contamination occurring from possible cross contaminations.” The
memorandum was signed by IAPMO President
Ron Rice, IAPMO Executive Director
Russ Chaney, ABPA
President
Richard Koenig,
and ABPA External Affairs Committee Chair
Ron Chapman.
In
other news, IAPMO has established a new Australian business unit, IAPMO R&T
Oceana, in Melbourne. IAPMO R&T Oceana is accredited by the Joint
Accreditation System of Australia and New Zealand to certify plumbing and
drainage products to use the WaterMark™, the Australian designation of
regulatory compliance. In addition, IAPMO R&T Oceana strongly supports the
Australian government in enforcing the Water Efficiency Labelling and Standards
Scheme, a federal mandate affecting manufacturers of plumbing products,
sanitary ware, and white goods.
