Inflation Jumps To Highest Monthly Rate In 25 Years
November 1, 2005
The much-watched Consumer Price Index, which has been on a steady rise this year, rose up 1.2 percent in September, a rate not seen since March 1980, according to The New York Times. The inflation increase was due in part to rising gasoline and natural gas prices after Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast. Excluding the energy and food sectors, the index only rose 0.1 percent.
