Roto-Rooter Uses Trenchless Pipe To Save Trees

Roto-Rooter is using environmentally friendly technology - trenchless sewer pipe replacement - to save older trees where the root systems have damaged sewer pipes. This technology eliminates the wear, tear and expense caused by traditional excavation, which normally destroys root systems around broken pipe and kills trees, as well as rips up lawns, driveways and landscaping.

The trenchless system was adapted from the gas industry to enter the ground via a small access hole. Using the broken sewer line as a guide, hydraulic machinery pulls full-sized replacement pipe through the old path while breaking up the damaged pipe. The small entrance and exit holes can be quickly refilled. The high-density polyethylene pipe is fused without joints to eliminate root intrusion or leaking, and has a longer life expectancy than other pipe material.
