Jacuzzi May Close Ohio Manufacturing Plant

November 4, 2003
Jacuzzi Brands Inc. recently announced it is considering closing its Salem, Ohio, manufacturing plant where Eljer cast-iron sinks and bathtubs are produced. The company met with the United Steelworkers of America to present financial and market data to support its preliminary conclusion that the continued manufacture of cast-iron products at the Salem plant was not viable.

The 1908 Salem facility produces cast-iron sanitaryware for retail and wholesale customers, and employs 253 people. The final decision to close the plant is expected in November.
