ITC Rules For Domestic Producers On Nonmalleable Pipe Fittings Case

May 1, 2003
The U.S. International Trade Commission upheld a complaint by Anvil International and Ward Mfg. that imports of nonmalleable cast-iron pipe fittings from China are being sold in the United States at less than fair value. All four commissioners voted affirmatively on March 12, and determined that the domestic producers are threatened with material injury by reason of subject imports from China.

As a result, the U.S. Department of Commerce will direct the U.S. Customs Service to impose antidumping duties on the offending products from China. No date was given for this to take effect.

Copies of the ITC's public report (Investigation No. 731-TA-990 (Final), USITC Publication 3586), may be obtained by calling 202/205-1809, or requested by fax at 202/205-2104.
