The Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors Educational Foundation recently announced the winners of 2012 scholarships awarded through the foundation.  Nine students were awarded a total of $24,000 in scholarships funded by the foundation, the South Jersey Mechanical Contractors Association, F.A. Williams Inc., the PHCC Auxiliary of Texas and the PHCC Auxiliary of Massachusetts.

  • Tim Rascher of Inver Grove Heights, Minn., has been awarded the 2012 Charles F. Hiley Memorial Scholarship, a $4,000 award funded by the PHCC Educational Foundation and South Jersey Mechanical Contractors Association. Rascher will be attending the University of Wisconsin Stout, pursuing a degree in construction management.


  • Cole Andrews of Brooksville, Maine has been awarded a $2,500 scholarship funded by the PHCC Past National Officers. Andrews will be attending Eastern Maine Community College this fall, pursuing an Associate’s degree in refrigeration, air conditioning and heating technology.


  • Michael Avig of Lincoln, Neb., has been awarded a $2,500 scholarship funded by the PHCC Educational Foundation. Avig is enrolled at Southeast Community College in its HVACR program.


  • Travis Callahan of Manassas, Va., has been awarded a $2,500 scholarship funded by the PHCC Educational Foundation. Callahan is working full-time at PHCC member My Plumber, and is enrolled in the Fairfax County, Va., Plumbing & HVAC Adult Education program.


  • Alexis Freund of Boerne, Texas, has been awarded a $1,500 scholarship funded by the PHCC Auxiliary of Texas. Freund is enrolled at Texas State University, pursuing a degree in mathematics.


  • Hunter Hurst of Acworth, Ga., has been awarded a $3,000 scholarship funded by the PHCC Educational Foundation. Hurst is enrolled at the Kennesaw State University, pursuing a business management degree.


  • Brian Ouellette of Arlington, Mass., has been awarded a $2,500 scholarship funded by the PHCC Auxiliary of Massachusetts and the PHCC Educational Foundation. Ouellette is enrolled at Tufts University, pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering.


  • Nicholas Poma of Knoxville, Tenn., has been awarded a $2,500 scholarship funded by the PHCC Past National Officers. Poma is enrolled at the University of Tennessee, pursuing a business management degree.


  • A.J. Sgro of Broomall, Pa., has been awarded a $3,000 scholarship funded by F.A. Williams Inc., in memory of company founder Francis A. Williams. Sgro is enrolled at Bob Jones University, pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering.


  • Fifteen additional students will receive 2012 scholarships thanks to more than $37,000 in funding provided by A.O. Smith, Bradford White Corp., Delta Faucet Co. and Ridge Tool Co.
