The College of Southern Nevada (CSN) Foundation Board of Trustees recently namedKenneth D. Goodrich, founder ofYes! Air Conditioning and Plumbingand western zone president of American Residential Services (ARS), as a 2012 Legacy of Achievement award recipient. Recipients, who will have an endowed scholarship at CSN in each of their names, are selected by trustees based on the overall and lasting impact of their industry and philanthropic contributions locally, statewide and nationally.

A Las Vegas native, Goodrich has been a longstanding supporter of CSN and its Air Conditioning Technology Program. In 2009, Goodrich established the J. Duncan Goodrich Air Conditioning Technology Endowment in honor of his father,J. Duncan Goodrich, a pioneer in the Southern Nevada air conditioning industry. Goodrich donated $100,000 to establish the endowment and has since garnered another $50,000 in cash and in-kind donations from community partners.

“The Legacy of Achievement Awards were created to honor community leaders who make a difference  through their business and community endeavors and it is truly a delight to recognize Ken and establish an endowed scholarship in his name,” saidJacque Matthews, executive director of the CSN Foundation. “ Ken’s leadership has been transformational to our School of Applied and Advanced Technologies and thanks to his work establishing the J. Duncan Goodrich air conditioning technology endowment, our students have greater scholarship opportunities, learn new technologies by working with state-of-the-art equipment and are better prepared to enter the job market.”

The CSN Air Conditioning Technology Program, which is nationally accredited by the Partnership for Air Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Accreditation, prepares workers for the installation, service, troubleshooting, and repair of residential heating and cooling systems. The funds have provided new equipment for the program and are used for scholarship disbursement to effectively train workers for the future.

Goodrich received his award at a ceremony on May 12 at the Legacy of Achievement Gala at the Rio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The Legacy of Achievement program was initiated in 2007 and the annual gala has raised almost $2 million to fund CSN scholarships and programs.
