Plumbing & Mechanical’s 2011 Best-Looking Truck Contest had many exceptional entries, especially in the box truck and van categories. Using a weighted point system, the panel of judges selected winners, as well as two runners-up, for each of the categories. Our judges this year from Creative Elements, Frankfort, Ill., included ownersMike Deam,Joe FlahertyandScott Hammond; and graphic designersScott SriverandHilary Daniel.

Each winner of our four categories will receive a Kinetic Water Ram from contest sponsor General Pipe Cleaners.

Best-Looking Box Truck

Winner

  • Rescue Plumbing, Deer Park, N.Y.
This category had a large number of entries and as a result was very competitive. After much discussion and review, the eventual winner was Rescue Plumbing. Considering that the need for a plumber is often an emergency (at least in the mind of the homeowner), this attractive, eye-catching truck does a great job of conveying that immediate service is what they are all about. And while it may not have as much information on it as many of the entries, people are sure to remember the name.

    Best-Looking Van

    WINNER

  • Sieben Plumbing, Hastings, Minn.
This category had the most number of entries and many were very good. The appealing colors of Sieben Plumbing accounted for it being listed on every judge’s ballot. The 24-hour emergency service information really “pops.” Like many of the entries, the back of the van features information that is easily read when someone is stopped behind the vehicle - a great use of space.

  • First Runner-up, Van: Perfect Home Services, Naperville, Ill.

    Best-Looking Inside

    WINNER

  • George Brazil Home Services, Phoenix
This “warehouse on wheels” truly stood out among all others in this category. With a list of features and an inventory of equipment too long to list here, it’s amazing how neat, clean and accessible these trucks are!

  • First Runner-up, Inside: JES Plumbing, Santa Maria, Calif.

    First Runner-Up (tie)

  • JES Plumbing, Santa Maria, Calif.

  • First Runner-up, Inside: Valley Plumbing, Lehi, Utah

  • Valley Plumbing, Lehi, Utah

  • Special mention: All West Plumbing, Ontario, Ore.

    Special Mention

We would be negligent if we didn’t mention All West Plumbing’s entry in the Van Category. This souped-up 1939 Dodge is used to run parts, and no doubt grabs a lot of attention in the process.
