ServiceMaster Co. reported that, in 2003, revenues for American Residential Services (ARS) and American Mechanical Services declined 5 percent and 9 percent, respectively. The decline at ARS was due to a decrease in plumbing and HVAC service revenues and the effects of branch shutdowns. The AMS decline reflects an industry-wide reduction in commercial construction activity, the company said.

In other news, the company announced that current President Ernie Mrozek has also become the chief financial officer of the company. He will continue to have operational responsibility for American Mechanical Services, ServiceMaster Clean, Merry Maids and Furniture Medic. Former CFO Steven Preston is now an executive vice president overseeing strategy, process improvement and technology. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Ward will oversee the ARS Service Express/Rescue Rooter, TruGreen, Terminix and American Home Shield businesses. Ward said the company’s chief operating officer position would not be filled.
