NSPC sets new 18-month cycle; public code hearing is March 25, 2010.

The National Standard Plumbing Code Committee announced the release of the 2009 National Standard Plumbing Code and the 2009 National Standard Plumbing Code–Illustrated.  The NSPC Committee recently voted to change the annual print cycle to include one supplement in an 18-month period between print editions. Review and updating of the policies and procedures along with setting upcoming dates will be discussed at the committee’s next meeting in December 2009.

The NSPC Committee is comprised of contractors, engineers and inspectors who voluntarily serve to keep the NSPC current with continuing developments in the plumbing industry and interpret the code when necessary.  Proposed code changes for the next cycle are due Thursday Oct. 22, 2009. For a copy of the code change form, visit www.phccweb.org under “Contractor Resources-Code and Technical Support” or contact Julie Turner at turner@naphcc.org.  The committee will meet to review these proposed changes Dec. 11-12, 2009, at the PHCC headquarters office in Falls Church, Va.

The NSPC Committee will then consider proposed NSPC changes at a public hearing scheduled Thursday, March 25, 2010, with a possible second day of March 26.  The hearing will begin at 8 am ET at the Sheraton Atlantic City Convention Center Hotel in Atlantic City, N.J.  The code changes accepted by the committee will be included in the 2010 Supplement to the 2009 National Standard Plumbing Code and is scheduled for publication in mid 2010.  The public is invited to the hearing.
