A seven-point scale rates restroom design
according to how effectively it reduces the possibility of spreading or
catching germs.
The Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC) reports that just the basic rotavirus alone costs the United
States $1 billion a year, resulting in 410,000 physician visits, 200,000
emergency room visits, 55,000 hospitalizations and up to 60 deaths. Globally,
this stool-spread virus kills more than 600,000 children a year.
