Briggs Industries Inc.celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2008. The company got its start in 1908 as a carriage/wagon/automobile body manufacturer in Detroit. WithWalter Owen Briggs, Sr., at the wheel, Briggs Mfg. grew into one of the nation’s largest producers of automobile and truck bodies. In the 1940s, Briggs introduced a line of steel plumbing fixtures under the Briggs Beautyware brand, which soon became the company’s main focus.

Today, Briggs plumbing fixtures are sold throughout North and South America. Purchased by parent company Cerámicas Industriales S.A. in 1997, Briggs has since launched the brand in Chile and Venezuela, modernized and improved production capacity in the United States and developed innovative and sleek designer lines.

To celebrate its centennial year, the company plans to launch several new plumbing fixtures, including its Conserver™ dual-flush toilet that was released earlier this year.

“The centennial anniversary is more than an occasion to celebrate the past,” remarkedBob Robison, vice president sales/marketing for North America. “It’s a time to re-energize and strategize how we will continue the Briggs tradition of delivering design, technology and innovation during the next 100 years.”
