The Hollywood theme prevailed in Anaheim, CA, at the annual In-Sink-Erator luncheon during this year’s PHCC/ASA Network ’07 conference. From the red-carpet entrance to the paparazzi, it was an all-out entertaining event. Even Lucille Ball showed up to emcee the festivities and hand out awards and honors from the PHCC Educational Foundation and the PHCC-National Auxiliary.

This is the 19th year that In-Sink-Erator has sponsored the award ceremony luncheon, and Lucy did not let that go unnoticed. The uncanny impersonator kept things light and entertaining, and the large-size Oscar statues, teleprompters, TV Screens ― and inevitable over-run of time ― helped encouraged the idea that this was a traditional televised awards show.

Besides the entertainment and laughs, several people were honored and congratulated by the PHCC:

  • The Robert M. Cox Humanitarian Award went to the members of the Illinois Auxiliary in the over 20 members category. Delaware won for the 3-20 members category. Also, PHCC-Louisiana was honored for raising more than $330,000 for a local school.

  • The 3D Award, sponsored by the Copper Development Association, awarded Terry Giebelhaus for her desire, dedication and determination.

  • The Larry Dore Auxiliary Member of the Year Award went to Bernadine Stockmeister of the Ohio Auxiliary, who has served almost six decades in the PHCC Auxiliary. First runner up was Kathy Tindall, New Jersey PHCC Auxiliary.

  • The AEC Spectrum Award went to Rodney Jones of Egyptian Plumbing in Marion, IL.

  • Next were the Delta Awards: Apprentice of the Year was Orlando Zamora. The coveted Contractor of the Year Award went to Larry Lee, Lee Plumbing & Heating Co., Thief River Falls, MN. First runner up was Dickie McCurdy, MMM Plumbing Heating and Cooling Inc., Amarillo, TX; second runner up was Wendell Presgrave, My Plumber, Fairfax, VA.

  • Trane presented its award to Tom Warner, Utility Service Express LLC, Reston, VA. First runner up was Lorrie Jones Gore, Gundlach Plumbing & Heating, Richmond, VA.

  • A Legislative Service Award went to Tim Williford, Southern Piping Co., Wilson, NC, for his dedicated service to the PHCC PAC and his balance of his personal, business and political life.

  • Finally the founders award, the George D. Scott Award, was given to Laurie Crigler, L & D Associates Inc., Aroda, VA, for her long and dedicated service.
  • In addition to the awards, several scholarships and monies were donated to the PHCC Educational Foundation and PHCC-National Auxiliary to further the education, promotion and recruitment of the next generation of P-H-C tradesmen and women.
