The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials and the American Backflow Prevention Association have signed a Memorandum of Understanding reflecting both organizations’ common goal of “protecting the public’s drinking water from pollution and contamination occurring from possible cross contaminations.” The memorandum was signed by IAPMO PresidentRon Rice, IAPMO Executive DirectorRuss Chaney, ABPA PresidentRichard Koenig, and ABPA External Affairs Committee ChairRon Chapman.

In other news, IAPMO has established a new Australian business unit, IAPMO R&T Oceana, in Melbourne. IAPMO R&T Oceana is accredited by the Joint Accreditation System of Australia and New Zealand to certify plumbing and drainage products to use the WaterMark™, the Australian designation of regulatory compliance. In addition, IAPMO R&T Oceana strongly supports the Australian government in enforcing the Water Efficiency Labelling and Standards Scheme, a federal mandate affecting manufacturers of plumbing products, sanitary ware, and white goods.
