Plumbing supply distributor Ferguson Enterprises announced it will donate toilets to every house Habitat for Humanity constructs in the United States. Ferguson expects to offer up to two of its PROFLO toilets per residence.
“But if it has more than two bathrooms, we’ll supply that number,” said Joseph Witt, Ferguson’s treasurer. “We want to take care of that need.”
Each of the toilets is worth about $175, said Denise Waters, a spokeswoman for Ferguson. At an average of two bathrooms per house, Ferguson’s commitment to Habitat is equivalent to at least $1.75 million a year.
A Ferguson statement said the commitment would run for two years, but Witt said, “At this point, we’re leaving it open-ended. We anticipate this as a partnership that will continue to grow. This is part of the way to return back to the community what we’ve been blessed with.”
