The National Association of Home Builders announced that former Secretary of State and retired Army Gen. Colin L. Powell will be the keynote speaker at the opening ceremonies of the 2006 International Builders' Show, Jan. 11-14, in Orlando, Fla.

In related news, The NAHB board recently voted to exercise its contractual rights and terminate its commitment to hold the 2007 and 2008 International Builders' Show in Atlanta because of the show's “double-digit growth over the last three years,” said NAHB President David F. Wilson. When the contract was signed in the mid-1990s, attendance at the show was much smaller. The shows now will be held in Orlando.
