Public watchdog refuses to opt for fair competition.

The Wisconsin Coalition for Fair Competition, an organization of PHC and electrical contractors, filed a lawsuit challenging a recent decision by the Wisconsin Public Service Commission. The contractors had asked the PSC to require utility monopolies that compete with contracting businesses to operate those businesses separate from their utility operations. The PSC refused the request on a 2-1 vote.

The Wisconsin Coalition has been fighting with power utilities for many years. "Utilities use revenues derived from their state sanctioned monopolies to defeat private enterprise at every turn," said Jim Bouillion, a lobbyist for the Associated General Contractors.
