Conference attendees met to discuss and take action on a range of building code and public safety issues facing the states.

At the National Conference of States on Building Codes and Standards Inc., 33rd annual conference held in October 2000, attendees met to discuss and take action on a range of building code and public safety issues facing the states, their citizens and construction communities.

A special forum was presented at the conference that was designed to assist attendees with understanding what actions need to be taken to decide which competitive versions of model construction codes to adopt. The forum resulted in the NCSBCS Board issuing a letter to NFPA and the ICC urging these organizations to return to the table and accept non-binding mediation of their outstanding differences to enable the nation to adopt and implement a single family of coordinated construction codes and standards.
