The Apprenticeship Enhancement Act of 2000, introduced by Rep. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.), would bring more accountability and efficiency to the approval of apprenticeship programs. Often facing roadblocks in obtaining federal approval, programs under this bill would be streamlined with the requirement of local Bureaus of Apprenticeship and Training offices to act on applications within a specified time limit. It would also require written justification for its decision and allow applicants the opportunity for a hearing if there is a factual dispute.
