Multibillion dollar energy company KeySpan expects its acquisition of New England's natural gas giant Eastern Enterprises to be final in November, and make it the largest gas distribution company in the Northeast servicing more than 2.4 million gas customers in New York, Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

The sale includes ServicEdge, an unregulated subsidiary of Eastern Enterprises and a sister company of Boston Gas, Colonial Gas and Essex Gas. It is the largest local provider of heating, cooling and water heating service and equipment installations in New England.

KeySpan Home Energy Services, ServicEdge's new name after the purchase is complete, will market its position as the largest premier provider of heating and cooling solutions for the residential and small business market in New England, and will introduce and build the KeySpan brand in Massachusetts.
