FirstEnergy Corp. and the Salvation Army are encouraging customers with financial hardships to apply for emergency heating assistance programs. Customers who cannot pay their energy bills and have exhausted all other resources can apply by contacting the Salvation Army.

Customers who want to give to the assistance programs can make one-time or monthly contributions that will appear on their electric bills. Their respective FirstEnergy electric company will match those tax-deductible contributions.
