Mestek Inc., parent of boiler and heating manufacturers such as Hydrotherm, RBI, SpacePak, Ray, and more, announced the opening of a new manufacturing facility adjacent to existing Mestek facilities located in Boyertown, Pa.

Specialty machining and final boiler assembly for all of Mestek’s cast iron boiler divisions will be done in this new facility. According to the company, the new facility layout will provide customers with enhanced lead times, reduced material handling costs and improved quality control.

Mestek acquired the Boyertown Foundry in 1998 and modernized the existing facility with automated, state-of-the-art equipment. Vice President Distributor Products Group for Mestek Steve Schwaber believes the addition of another manufacturing facility will further streamline and enhance operations.

“This move is designed to further consolidate operations and bring more groups under one roof, which only makes sense during these economic times,” he said in the announcement.

Equipment will be relocated from Westfield, Mass., along with new CNC machinery to form efficient machining centers. A highly cross-trained and seasoned workforce presently resides in the adjacent foundry operations, which include the Advanced Thermal Hydronics division of Mestek, allowing a seamless transition along with the creation of 30-40 new positions in the Boyertown area as the product line expands and boiler assembly increases through 2009.
