Demand for plumbing products in China is projected to increase nearly 13 percent per annum through 2009 to almost 85 billion yuan ($10.6 billion USD), outpacing growth in most other parts of the world, according to a new study by The Freedonia Group Inc., a Cleveland-based industry market research firm. “Plumbing Fixtures & Fittings in China” reports that plumbing fixtures made of plastic materials, especially acrylic and fiberglass, will see demand value rise nearly 15 percent annually through 2009, the fastest of any material category.

In another study from the company, “Water Treatment in China,” it was reported that demand for water treatment products in China is projected to increase 14.1 percent per year to 34 billion yuan ($4.2 billion USD) in 2010. China’s government’s home privatization efforts have spurred a housing construction boom in recent years.
