Network ’08 also offers several green-related presentations. While Network ’08 features general sessions for both members of the American Supply Association and the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors – National Association, the following highlights are meant for just respective members of each group and will be held in the Marriot Marquis:

ASA Events

Thursday, Oct. 2

7-8:45 a.m.
  • ASA Plumbing Industry Breakfast: Conserving America’s Water Resources – Business Sense, Water Sense, Common Sense – Marquis C&D
Stephen L. Johnson, an administrator with the Environmental Protection Administration, has been invited to discuss WaterSense, a partnership program sponsored by the EPA, which seeks to protect the future of our nation’s water supply by promoting water efficiency and enhancing the market for water-efficient products, programs, and practices.
Across the country, our growing population is putting stress on available water supplies. Between 1950 and 2000, the United State population nearly doubled. However, in that same period, public demand for water more than tripled.
Americans now use an average of 100 gallons of water each day – enough to fill 1,600 drinking glasses. This increased demand has put additional stress on water supplies and distribution systems, threatening both human health and the environment.

ASA Seminars

1:45-3:15 p.m.
  • Understanding The National Green Building Landscape – International 4

3:30-5 p.m.
  • Greening Your Bottom Line – International 4
Robin Pharo, president of Healthy Homes, will lead both presentations. Pharo’s morning presentation will take attendees through a review of the various national “green” programs, such as the NAHB Model Green Building Guidelines and the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED for Homes But she told us that local program around the country may offer better solutions than better-known national campaigns.
Pharo’s afternoon presentation will turn the tables on contractors and have participants consider what they can do to “green” their own office and field operations while saving money.

PHCC Seminars

Friday, Oct. 3

1:30-2:45 p.m.
  • Going Green: What You Need To Know About This Growing Market For Your Business – International 2&3
PHCC’s Task Force on Green Construction and Water Conservation will unveil the results of study and discussions over the past year. PHCC members Kevin Tindall, Tindall and Ranson, and Steven Schaefer, Schaefer Mechanical, will discuss how to address the “green” concerns that your customers are asking about. Find out how to tap into this growing opportunity for business through water-efficient installations, LEED certification, GreenPlumbers USA and more.
